This is a strange turn of events...
Dec. 17th, 2008 09:41 amMmm. Strange. I've been teaching for 2 weeks already and now I'm suddenly
struck by nerves? My hands are shaking and my stomach is kind of in knots.
It's the last class for 2 of the 5 today so we're just finishing up the
chapter, doing the practice stuff at the end and then we'll play *karuta* to
end off on a good note before the winter break. One of them is my good
class, so that should be alright. I got lots of sleep last night thinks to
Nikki's Kiwi cold meds that she gave me -- knocked me right out at like
9:30. I took the daytime ones today to kick this cold to the curb and my
sinuses are clearing up nicely.
I never got to do my quiz show... I really want to! Maybe I can see if they
want to use if for the bonenkai next week. Even though it's only in jr high
3rd year level English, I think most of the teachers will have a hard time
understanding some of the questions. So that means, I would need some
translation. And maybe the music category would be too.... new. It's
mostly pop singles/songs that came out in the last few years and I don't
know what kind of tastes most of the teachers have. I don't even know who I
would ask. Or what they would have in terms of equipment... they would need
to bring a computer, projector and screen and I don't remember if we had
those or not last year. Maybe they just used paper. Mah... whatever.
Maybe I'll get a chance to do it next year. Even if they don't have English
class, I'm sure kids still come to school and have "free study". We can use
one of those classes to do it? Or even after finals as a grad present? It
could be fun review. Ugh. Fucking Kaneko. I'm blaming this all on him.
Because, really, if he hadn't fucked off this month, I would have been able
to do it.
Today and tomorrow and short again. I don't know why they don't just make
it 45 minute lessons permanently for all the times the schedule changes. It
would make things a lot easier. My school days were never this fucked up.

I cried today. Three times. I'm really going to miss Keigo. It never felt like work or a chore to go and play for an hour. His mom couldn't be there but she wanted to. She gave me a gorgeous furoshiki and Keigo wrote a card for me. He even drew the doll I gave him on it. And his grandma gave me a small coin purse as parting gifts. We took a few pictures together so I'm going to print them out and send them to him. I forgot my camera so I just hope they turn out alright from my phone. He didn't really seem to bent but grandma was sad and she said they'll always be there in that house ("Til we die," were her words) and I can call them anytime if I need help. She hopes that Keigo will be able to meet me again in Canada one day. That would be really nice.
