The scariest thing yet
Jul. 28th, 2008 08:02 pmI sent Chris Equilibrium to read. I am so fucking scared. Chris is a total darling and a sweetheart and I love him to pieces but the biggest queen you've ever met when it comes to literature and pop culture. Not that what I write could be defined as literature, but... I just got the urge to tell him I have been writing. And he asked me to show him and so I did. I really, really take what he has to say to heart because he was always better in school than I was at papers and such. Then again, this is fiction, and totally different from essay writing, but writing nonetheless. He's very well read and a total bookworm (he worked at Book Warehouse on Davie Street for nearly a year) so he knows his shit. And that makes me even more scared as to what he's going to have to say...
Having someone completely outside fandom read it and enjoy it and follow it and understand the characters I've created -- they are created, I believe. Based closely on real people, yes, but even that is hard to say because I don't know them personally. So they are based on the personas of real people (which are probably copyrighted by the old fart). Having someone outside and who knows nothing about the real people and who can still enjoy and feel for the characters... I think that's a success. And I'm also worried about what he'll say about the sex. >_< Because he would know. He has all seven written chapters -- 20,000 words -- to read. He said he'd start tomorrow so he can give it his full attention but he's shit at writing emails so I don't know when I'll get any feedback from him. I just hope it's good!
