aideSo work didn't go fast enough as far as I was concerned. All I wanted to do was end the day, go to Tsutaya, pick up a shiney new copy of Freestyle and go home and eat the artistic genius for dinner. I don't know why I thought it would be so easy. I went to Tsutaya after work, grabbed the last copy on the shelf of the sexy Yamapi AnAn and purused the shelves before asking the dude where the art book section was. Then I told him what I was looking for and he was searched on the computer. "Oh, Johnny's? Yea, no we don't have anymore..." which is when I spotted a copy on the shelf behind the counter which was probably reserved by some twelve year old girl. He said other stores don't have any either. In a last ditch effort, I went to Kashiwa Station and checked Tower (They say "books" on the sign but their section is one shelf - hardly a section - though for 900yen I could get Cosmo in English), Shinseido and Wings and all had nothing. I didn't ask at any of the other stores but I figure they would have a little display of them if they did. When I got home I searched on Tower and HMV Japan but neither has it even listed. YesAsia didn't even have it. Tsutaya is the only one, and its out of stock. I should try and be realistic about it - Chris taught me a little about the inner workings of a bookstore. They will probably only got one or two cases and will get another shipment next week.
I feel bummed now. I was so excited! I'm going to the show at least and they might have them there. I'll get to see the work up close and personal and that's better than any book, but I would still like to have it. I remember reading somewhere that they were going to do a limited printing of 130,000 or something (maybe I just pulled that number out of my ass) but if it sold out everywhere on the first day, they MUST do more than that. I'm going to stop trying to rationalize it and just sit and wait. We'll see what the show has to offer. I kind of want to go on opening night (star sightings?) but I bet everyone else will think the same thing. I think I'll go the day after, after work. I'll have a little less than three hours there if I go straight after work, but I don't want to go on the weekend. It will be a zoo for sure.
Now that I'm bummed out, I want to make dinner even less than I did before. I've been binging on rice crackers (but the bad sweet kind) since I got home and I should stop. I guess Yamapi will have to provide solace for me tonight. At least I could get that, so I could show Andrew tomorrow. >:D
