Monkey I had adamently claimed to hate children before I came to Japan, but after teaching Nova Kids, I realized they weren't that bad.  Or I realized that I can control them easily enough, given my mom personality.  A very loud countdown from 5 to 1 does wonders for getting them in check.  But then I started teaching Keigo in November; his mom responded to a teaching ad I posted on a Find-a-Teacher website.  I was a bit hesitant about teaching a kid, but he's a rock star.  I love this kid.  His mom took him to New Zealand for 4 months and he was in regular school so he picked up English on his own while she went to language school.  Kids are like sponges, its amazing.  This kid is only 7 and is better than all the kids I teach in junior high.

So once a week, I go to Keigo's house and we read books (or rather, he reads) and chat and do random activities in his notebook that I think up.  Today, I taught him how to use definite (the) and indefinite (a, an) articles.  We also did Fruits and Vegetables.  It's sweet because at the end of our lesson, his grandma comes up with a tray of snacks and coffee for me.  I'm usually too full to even eat dinner after our lessons!  I should return the favour and cook for them sometime. <3 <3

I was blog-hopping around I hope you don't mind me dropping in.

Keigo is his name? Isn't KEIGO like a language or something? i know we are not the ones who name ourselves but orly parents... Hehe! The kid looks like a young-Sho to me.

Kids are the best at picking up languages. Just drop all of them into a room together.

Random journal hopping is always appreciated! Especially when comments are involved. XD

Yea, Keigo.. and keigo is also uber polite language although I doubt his parents chose those kanji... I actually had a student named Kanji once. XD Well, think of those morons who name their kids crap like Coco, Apple, Moon Unit... we're no better. Hah.

He totally looks like Baby Sho! I swear, I want to take this kid home with me sometimes, he's just too cute.

Absolutely - sponges.

I totally blog-stalked you too. You're looking for an Arashi AU catalogue? I can see if I can pick one up, if you really want one. I got some Arashi spam with my (AU) phone bill last month but its really poor quality and only the cover. But instore junk must be nicer. They don't spend any extra on you if you're a customer already!

I knew Keigo sounded familiar! But I keep thinking "keio+eigo" though haha.

I wonder how kids grow up with such names of Coco and Apple Puffs and are expected to be normal.

Kidnapping is frown upon in society :P I keep getting told that when I want to grab cute kids home. But now, I think I stick to brainwashing teaching my niece.

Ah! Not it's ok. Don't wish to be a bother (as the japanese goes) but maybe... you can try ripping them off the walls from the train stations? :P

Ah! You used AU? I'm surprised because most people would go for Docomo for the better coverage and prettier phones (as i was told by my friends).

I noticed people steal them from trains.. there's actually a giant one in my station! I had a little joygasm when I saw it, but its impossible to kidnap. And they frown on stealing here, especially if you're gaijin. >_< But I have so wanted to try and jack one from the train. It would have to be first or last train, with no people. Haha...

I went with AU cuz my friend had it. Actually they're like the same as Docomo, even cheaper I think. I have friends with Docomo or Softbank that pay 100$ monthly, but I only pay 40$! And I can watch TV and play music off my phone, so its pretty sweet. Although I'm starting to wonder when I can trade it in because mine's getting pretty beat up. XD
