aide: (Shono! Here's looking at you.)
I woke up at 8am this morning.  On a Sunday.  I am well rested and ready to face the day.  I thought I turned the AC off when I went to bed but it was on when I woke up and I don't remember getting up in the middle of the night to go pee and then turn it back on.  Very strange.

Final episode of Yoiko no Mikata is finally out.  Too bad that drama didn't get as much hype or be as popular as others because the raws for it are -- in a word -- shit.  And it isn't out on DVD, I suppose.

Action plan for the day:
Write some more!  I was actually thinking of posting what I have written as a chapter itself and then continuing with a new one (it would be kind of sort of cliffhangery?).  It's passes my requirements to post (more than 2000 words) but I wanted to combine two chapters together since I managed to add one in somewhere, somehow.  Haha... what I'm writing now was supposed to be Chapter 5 in my plan.  When I open my Google Docs it says that [profile] tohshimari is editing it, but I think she's off at work or playing now so I can't get any opinions from her yet.  Oh well.  Just keep writing!  And then if I feel like it, I can post the first part and then already have the next written.  Just like [personal profile] honeysempai said I should do.

Okay, I needs coffee.  I'm rambling.

Finally posting that daikon recipe I got from Yvonne. I should go to the store and make it tomorrow night for dinner. After I finish eating my mapo eggplant noodle concoction I made last night, which came out quite flavourful and delicious.

Stewed Daikon and Drumsticks
Makes 2 servings... maybe.

5-6 chicken drumsticks or wings (or 200g chicken thigh meat, chopped into bite sized pieces)
1/3-1/4 daikon, chopped into bite-sized pieces
1 tsp fresh ginger, chopped finely or grated
1 onion, sliced
1 carrot, sliced into medallions

For stewing sauce:
400 ml dashi (400ml water + 2/3 tsp dashi powder)
2 tsp sake or cooking wine
2 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt

1. Pre-boil the daikon and carrots for about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
2. Put all the stewing sauce ingredients into a pot with the chicken, onion and 1/2 tsp of ginger. Cook on medium heat without lid.

3. When it starts boiling, skim the scum off the sauce. Cover with a lid and turn the heat down to low. Cook for 15 minutes.
4. Add the daikon and carrots to the pot. Cover and cook for an additional 10-15 mins.
5. Add the remaining 1/2 tsp of ginger at the end. Serve over cooked rice.

I've made this recipe about 4 or 5 times since Yvonne sent it to me and I made my own additions to it. This time I made it I added the onion and carrot and loooots of ginger. I think adding some fresh garlic would be really nice as well. The onion cooks down so it adds a nice flavour to the stew. The stew is really thin, as you can see, it's more like a soup. But it is absorbed by the rice to give it more flavour.

I hope you like this! Let me know how you find it.

Busy work.

aide: (Oh no I'm bored)
Today I:
-- Updated my profile.
-- Changed my layout.
-- Cleaned up my comms.
-- Finished Chapter 6.  It's either 2,355 or 3,041 words, I can't decide where I should cut it off and post.  In any case, it brings my total word count to 19,013. O_O
-- Looked through some fics on The List; didn't find anything spectucular and that made me sad.  Axed a bunch of stuff though.
-- Watched Maou, VSA, and some MMA.
-- Finished reading Forbidden Colors finally.  Now I can sell that fucking book.
-- Napped.
-- Sang some karaoke.
-- Wrote Alison a letter.

I think I am trying to make myself feel better and not think that I fucked my whole day away.  Not literally, of course.  Although my vagina is building up a tolerance to marathon sex, I think.  I didn't hurt after Friday night/Saturday morning.  That's a good thing, I guess.  And for the record, there are people that use barriers (... saran wrap) to give head to a girl!  I am ... what did Yvonne say?  Anecdotal evidence.  And straight sex is just as wet sounding as gay sex.

Okay, Heather.  It's time to stop.
