But I'm not really since I'm updating now.  But I'm beat so I'm not going to write much -- especially since I'm going to write another 3hr entry about the whole trip when I get home so I don't want to ruin any surprises.

Kyoto is gorgeous and amazing and I wish I had the time and money to wander around Pontocho and Gion more but it's fucking hot as hell.  Hotter than hell.  They aren't lying when they say Kyoto has the worst summers in Japan.  So bad in fact that Justin fainted today.  I have never been so scared in my whole life.  I had no idea what to do.  I really should take a first aid course when I get back to Canada or find one here.  I wonder if the Red Cross does courses in English in Japan.  Luckily it was just a bit of overheating and not heat stroke or anything serious.  But he smashed his leg pretty hard when he fell on the bench and it's still hurting him.  He hit his thigh so I don't think anything could be broken; it's probably just a really deep bruise.  Jen?  Any ideas?  In any case, he can laugh at himself and the situation so that's good.  And of course I took a picture afterwards, like he would expect from me.

Kansai has such great food, I'm really living in the wrong part of the country.  Tomorrow we're hitting up Osaka -- Dotounbori and Osaka Castle, I think.  :D

I'm so excited that you went to Kyoto!!!! I love it there! I already wish that I could go back! Gion is super nice and we did so much shopping in the Shijo/Sanjo area.

You get used to the heat though. I was there for a month and by the end, it was getting better, though still effin' hot. Tokyo's weather is so much better. I remember getting up there and just thinking...damn...this is so much nicer. Just be glad that you don't live in Hiroshima because the weather there is so much worse than Kansai. Did you get to hit up Kobe? Right outside JR Kobe station is a bit drab but once you hit up the port area, it's super nice. But if you wanna shop around and stuff, you should hit up the Sannomiya stop because it's a lot nicer. XD

Lots of good shopping in Osaka too! Hope you have fun! I loved Tokyo btw!! Which part are you living in?

Yea! The first night here we went to Kobe for fireworks. We wandered around and had lunch in Chinatown and then hit up the port area and took a little ferry cruise. It was really nice. It reminds me of Victoria a bit.

I am really loving Kansai; I will definitely try to make a trip back in the fall or spring (as my host mom keeps telling me I should) before I leave. I don't actually live in Tokyo -- sob, sob -- I live in Chiba prefecture on the Joban line, 30 mins from Ueno station. It's still nice and I like it, even though it seems so far away sometimes.

Did you go to the earthquake memorial? It was so sad there! I loved Mosaic. We ate Kobe beef at this little place in Mosaic! We didn't get to take a ferry cruise but oh well. Can't do everything right?

Yeah, we didn't stay in Kyoto. We stayed in Seta which was about 5 JR stops from Kyoto. Then we had to walk about 25 minutes to our place from the station. So we know how it feels but it's all good. I wish i was back in JAPAN!!!

My friend went to Aiba's restaurant for lunch before we left and talked to his mom. He was so excited! ha ha...i didn't wanna go because i wanted to see Tokyo more.
