Six Months

Has it really been that long? On the one hand, it doesn't feel like it. I thought I would have done more, seen more, made more by now. On the other, so much has happened in just six months. I endured the searing heat of summer, a typhoon, a semi-major earthquake, my company's bankruptcy, near-eviction, apartment hunting, relocating, finding and starting a new job. There's also been a lot of good times amid that crap, so don't think I'm being whingy and self-pitying. I'm just reflecting.
I'm still not 100% better. My cough is lingering, but I am putting off going back to the doctor because the last round of antibiotics threw my whole system out of a whack and "down there" is not happy at all. I'm trying out some home remedies, and so far yogurt is the winner. We'll see how I feel in the morning.
I got a call from Tatsuya the other day: he's coming to observe me at work next week. Not in a "your eval was so shit I have to come watch you work" kind of way, but he does it every term with every school. I don't know how long he plans on staying... or if he's going to have a sit down with me afterwards, or what. I shouldn't be too worried, I work really well and enjoy myself. If I could choose a class, I hope he would watch 1-2. They are my favourite. There's a bunch of bright kids and a few jokers that are just so entertaining. That class also doesn't have any real reclusive, anti-social, I-don't-give-a-shit-about-school kids either.
I met Andrew today to hunt for a hair streaking kit, but no such luck. The woman at the pharmacy didn't have any idea what we were talking about when Andrew asked for a kit with the cap in it. He resigned just to get a hair cut and then we hit the grocery store for lunch and went to Odaiba for a bit. We threw soybeans for Setsubun in his place because we strive to be festive at every and all occasions. I didn't buy any for my place because I'm lazy and don't feel like cleaning. I did Shougatsu rituals so I figure I don't need to celebrate the coming of spring. We also went to Shibuya and stopped in at Uniqlo and I got some pants. Boys pants, but the fit pretty well. I tried on some boys jeans, but I don't have the right parts to fill out all the extra space. Needless to say - they didn't look that great on me. I tried on a pair of jeans at Gap too - Long and Lean and they JUST fit. They fit everywhere perfectly except for the waist, which was 1 size too small, but Gap in Japan doesn't stock higher than a 10. I could have bought them, they would probably have stretched after a few wears, but I didn't want to spend 90$ on pants that I might not wear because they are too small. And I don't have enough self-motivation to ganbaru and lose a few inches so that they do fit.
I also finally got a water bill: only 3500 for 2 months. Not bad at all! I thought it would be higher.
Nagano trip is next weekend, and I still don't have my camera back from Olympus and neither have they called Andrew so he can yell at them. We're going to play the ranty gaijin card, as well as the we are not satisfied with your product and will never buy Olympus again and will tell all our friends card. That usually gets you some free stuff because they just don't want to deal with you. Andrew said he'd lend me his camera if I don't get mine back before then. I'm actually getting excited (even though I don't ski and am going to be spending a bucket-load) but its going to be a fun trip. :)
