I always find people who choose to study Chinese amazing. I mean, I absolutely failed at Chinese school - I can't begin to imagine fourteen years of study, wow.

All you need is some time well spent in China next :D

This is true! I know that if/when I got to China or Taiwan it'll all come rushing back and I'll be back to where I was or better in a matter of weeks. I feel my Chinese gets better even after watching TW dramas.

Yes! Whatever command of Mandarin I have is from the little time I've spent in China and from watching [some really bad] dramas. Generally though, Mandarin dramas make me grimace, as I more often than not find them too painful to watch. To this day, the TW Hana Kimi is the only one I've finished! (It doesn't help my efforts to keep my Mandarin "skills" afloat D:)
