Why am I up at 730am?  Ugh.  Damn you internal clock.  At least I don't have to worry about sleeping in.  I would go back to bed except we're having a fucking storm.  I don't think it's strong enough to call a typhoon but the wind is whipping the trees around like ribbons.  Yahoo Japan weather says the wind is 5 m/s.  How fucking useless is that?  I want KM you fuckers.  I can't remember the formula to change it.  Ugh whatever.  It sucks and I can tell that much just by looking.  My ears even feel funny because of the low pressure zone.

I hope that it tapers off in a few hours!  I don't want to have to go out in this.  :(  But is it dumb to post-pone a date because of the weather when you weren't doing anything outdoorsy?

I'm doomed

I've fallen into the pit of no return named D no Arashi.  I started watching... 2-3 days ago and I'm on episode 21 already.  So many things to love... the bad suits, the awesome music (I wonder if they realize the irony when they were playing St. Anger during the prison episode), the great catch phrases on Leader's sign during the credits....  Ahhh~

1 more day before elementary.. it's going to be the lightest day of the semester and I'm still dreading it.  Grade 4 and 5.  Only three classes I think?  Today, 4 classes but I'm teaching til the end of the day.  I think it's a Wednesday schedule (screwy cuz of the stat on Monday) and I thought only Tuesday had 6 periods.  I'm confused.  Maybe it'll be cancelled way because the 3rd years had/have tests?  Some kind of test yesterday so maybe it's a multiple day thing.  No one tells me, I just have to go with the flow.

Thankfully, first is free. :D

I think I will stop by the rental office tonight and talk with someone there in person.  They aren't the office that leases my apartment but it's the same company anyway.  I'll tell them about the leak when it rains because the typhoon is supposed to hit Kanto on Saturday.  I don't want to be stuck in my house with water pouring in through the exhaust.  That also puts a damper on any fun this weekend too.  And I need to grocery shop so I don't starve.  Fucking weather.

What the fuck is wrong with the world?  The weather systems seem to be all kinds of fucked up these days.  Have we finally doomed ourselves?  Is the atmosphere starting to fall around our ears?  It seems like it to me.  Another torrential thunderstorm that fucked up the trains pretty much all day and flooded a bunch of rivers.  I really hope it doesn't rain tomorrow, especially since I'll be in Hakone onsen-ing it up.  I need to do some... grooming tomorrow morning.  Like woah.  Nobody needs to see that.  I suppose that's a plus about sleeping with someone regularly: it makes you keep things neat and tidy.  Otherwise, it gets out of control.  Should be fun anyway.  It'll be Yvonne and her manpanion Tony, her two friends from Canada (who are here for someone's wedding?), Andy and me.  The idea was to do some trekking around there but if the weather is crap, we'll have to do something else.  I should bring the camera anyway.  And.... since I set the alarm for 5:30, I should go to bed now.  I fixed my saved game so I can continue saving the princess tomorrow and since I know what to do now, it shouldn't take that long.  I hope.  I don't want to be getting frustrated and yelling swears at my DS on the train tomorrow. :/  As entertaining as that might be...

I want to enter some of my writing into a contest.  [livejournal.com profile] arashirabu should have some contests or something.  As good a community as it is -- it's self-sufficient and there is no wank -- the mods do nothing.  I emailed one of them about the mess of the tagging system yesterday and haven't heard back yet.  I suppose I could try contacting the others (there's like 4 altogether)... but there are no mod posts about anything.  It feels like a glorified message board.

We just had another earthquake.  Not as scary this time, but I am also up and awake this time.  It was right here in Chiba-ken but only a 4.5.  The one the other night was 6.8.

Watching the new KAT-TUN PV.  I have so many snarky comments.  The song is actually... good?  Well, it's KAT-TUN so I wouldn't go that far but its definitely catchy.  The video has decent dancing!  Actually, I think Koki probably pwns they all because he looks like he was holding back.  Kind of like Leader when Arashi perform.  The costumes... rivaled the atrocities of the Time con.  What the hell is with Kame and the rolled up pants and spats look?  You are not fucking Oliver Twist.  Jin had brain extentions in a pony tail.  Enough said.  Those other guys.. at least Junno looks like a Japanese person again with his hair cut and colour, and might even pass for straight.

Aftershock.

I need coffee.  Maybe then I wouldn't be so amazed by the shaking.  Although since we don't have earthquakes in Canada (the kids were shocked to hear that yesterday), I don't think I'll ever stop being amazed/scared.

It's 5:15am and I'm awake.  If you were here, you wouldn't be surprised.  We're in the middle of the 9th typhoon of the year.  I say "middle" not in the sense that "presently, we are experiencing a typhoon" but we might be at the mid-point because the wind has been whipping the trees around and the rain has been coming down in buckets since about 8pm yesterday.  If the wind lashing at the building wasn't enough to wake me up, I'm a genius and left our laundry rack out on the balcony which as surely going to be blown away.  I went out in the wind and rain to collapse the stupid thing, since its flimsy and made of aluminum.  It's taken gentler winds to blow that thing over.  Even with clothes on it.  I always thing something is going to take flight off our balcony at any moment and it'll be gone forever.  The windows are rattling, wind is whistling through the cracks, things are rattling outside on the balcony, who can sleep in this?  Nikki is even awake.  Although she said she heard some women screaming outside on the street and that's what woke her up.  I'm a little groggy from out drinking party last night after Kids Training so I'd really like to get a few more hours sleep, but this storm doesn't look like its stopping or letting up anytime soon.

Nikki and I are going to call in to work (at a more reasonable hour) and ask what we're supposed to do.  I'd rather not go out in this, surely the trains aren't running.  I'm actually 100% sure they aren't, right now at least, because this is worse than it was last night.  Nikki and I got back to Kashiwa at around 11pm last night from Funabashi and found that all the trains had stopped.  We attempted to ask some guy standing there reading his comic (and he probably was like, "What the fuck do these crazy white girls want?") but all we could communicate was "電車ダメ?” Densha dame? which roughly translates to "Trains no?"  Coincidently, the guy next to him could speak fluent English and started talking to us and telling us the trains were all stopped because of the bad weather.  He said we could take a cab, since they wouldn't be running anytime soon.  We only live in Abiko, a 5-6 minute ride on the train - only 1 stop, so it wouldn't be that bad.  Nikki did it once from a bar in Kashiwa and said it was only 2000Y.  This guy lived in Toride (2 more stops on the Rapid train, maybe 20 more minutes on the train) and said he would split a cab with us to Abiko and then continue home.  I know that sounds stupid since we don't even know this guy, but he was a student at USC in Communications as well as in Chicago for a bunch of years.  He gave us his name card, and then later he asked for my email though I'm not sure what he's going to email me about.  He was a really nice guy and helped us out.  Although, the cab to Abiko was 2000Y and we each gave him 1000Y so we could have cabbed without him but he was nice so I didn't mind.

Anyway, this weather is ridiculous.  I have never seen such a bad storm.  I wish I could capture it on film to show you.  The sun is coming up (well, its getting brighter at least) so I might be able to in an hour or so.  I wonder what it will be like in an hour, it sounds like things are getting worse.  This is worse than any of those storms Vancouver had last winter that screw the city because all the trees were destroyed.  The tree across the way outside our window is just waaaving in the wind like nothing.  The foliage must be more resilient here.  That's my conclusion about Japan so far: everything is bigger.  The produce (grapes the size of your nose), the beer, the bugs (cicadas the size of your face that chase you), the storms.

A moderate earthquake hit Chiba Prefecture to the east of Tokyo on early Thursday morning, causing delays to train services, officials said.

The earthquake that struck at 4:15 a.m. registered 4 on the 7-point Japanese scale and 3 in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama and Ibaraki prefectures. It was estimated to be 5.3 on the open-ended Richter scale.

A few other smaller aftershocks struck in the Kanto region later on Thursday morning. (Mainichi)

It was another disgustingly hot night... I couldn't sleep until around 3:30am and then I heard this rumbling sound and felt the building sway.  I wasn't sure if I should get up and stand in the doorway but nothing was crashing down around my ears so I just stayed where I was in bed.  There were a few smaller after shocks.. but I was half asleep still.  I wasn't sure if I had felt it since I was so out of it, but Hannah and Ed confirmed it with me this morning.  Hannah says that's the strongest one she's felt here.  Go figure.

Well, another day, another dollar.  Hopefully I get some no-shows today and get a free period so I can take a nap.
